African Hope Committee, Inc. was established in 2003 as a minority community-based, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. African Hope Committee’s mission statement is to "empower the African Immigrant and other Ethnic groups in New York City by providing health education programs, immigrant services and social service support.” Our vision is to “serve and improve the overall welfare of the African Immigrant and other ethnic groups through collaboration, facilitating greater assimilation and self-sufficiency." AHC's major programs and services focus particularly on HIV/AIDS education and prevention, maternal child health, immigration and social support.

We are currently in the formative stages of our revised immigration program now called the ROSE Immigration Program. The ROSE (Rights, Organizing, Social, Equality) Immigration Program’s purpose is to educate African Immigrants about immigration laws and policies and provide direct and referral services that change the social status of undocumented African immigrants living in the New York Metropolitan Area. This program will increase staff knowledge around immigration laws and procedures; spearhead innovative matching projects, support a greater amount of volunteers, interns; increase AHC's one on one service/assessment and referral services in the area of immigration and healthcare access; maintain case-load and provide support to AHC's vulnerable clients of domestic violence and abuse.
